Zagreb Main Railway Station signalling and interlocking system

Three contracts were signed in the scope of the project and on the basis of international competitive bids held in the first half of 2010. These are: (i) a works’ contract (EuropeAid/128431/D/WKS/HR); (ii) a works’ supervision contract (EuropeAid/128429/D/SER/HR); and (iii) a procurement contract for points (EuropeAid/128430/D/SUP/HR).

The works’ contractor on the installation of the new signalling and interlocking system was the consortium Siemens AG Österreich and Elektrokem d.o.o., the works’ supervision was contracted with the Spanish company Técnica y Proyectos S.A. (TYPSA), and the delivery of points was contracted with Vossloh MIN Skretnice d.o.o.

The value of the project is € 11.4 million with 85% in the form of grant funds provided by the EU Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance, while the rest was secured from the Croatia State Budget.

Works began at the beginning of 2012 and the equipment was put into operation on 10th March 2013.

The primary objectives of the project to replace the signalling and interlocking system at Zagreb Main Railway Station are to significantly increase railway traffic flows thus enabling safer and more reliable services ant to modernise the railway infrastructure to meet EU technical standards.

The project on the Signalling and Interlocking System at Zagreb Main Railway Station comprises:
– Replacement of the signalling and interlocking equipment
– Replacement of telecommunication equipment
– Reconstruction of station tracks
– Modernisation of signal box.
