Rail Traffic Management
One of HŽ Infrastruktura core activities is traffic operation and management, and our mission is to enable optimum use of traffic and transport capacities of the railway network, together with maximum safety. Within the scope of management and monitoring train operation on Croatian railway lines, and activities of dispatchers, we also provide information to railway operators on conditions of operation, i.e. traffic disturbances.

Employees of the Traffic Sector, in line with very strict regulations, manage train running routes with the help of signalling (2,385 signals) and 4,139 turnouts, and in doing so, they enable not only regular running of trains and their safe operation, but also safety for employees working on tracks (for ex. regular maintenance, repairs of signalling, turnouts, overhead contact line, railway line, site visits after irregular events). On a daily basis, they supervise traffic operations of around 87 freight and 668 passenger trains.
Traffic management, with its operations centres, is organized in five regional units – North (Koprivnica), Centre (Zagreb), East (Vinkovci), West (Rijeka) and South (Split).
