Upgrade of existing and construction of second track on Ivanić-Grad – Kutina section of Dugo Selo – Novska railway line

Section Ivanić-Grad – Kutina (42 km) is an integral part of the international railway line M103 Dugo Selo – Novska on the RH1 corridor, and in the European framework, it is an integral part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).

On 19 October 2023 HŽ Infrastruktura d.o.o. signed the Grant Agreement 101122716 — 22-HR-TC-DSNOV as part of the Connecting Europe Facility Transport Sector (CEF – Connecting Europe Facility) with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). The value of the Grant Agreement is EUR 289.0 million, of which EUR 245.6 million, or 85 percent, is co-financed from CEF and the remaining amount of EUR 43.3 million, or 15 percent, is co-financed from the State Budget of the Republic of Croatia.

The Grant Agreement covers the following activities:

  1. Project management, publicity and visibility
  2. Land acquisition
  3. Works
  4. Supervision

Implementation of works on the section Ivanić-Grad – Kutina, as part of the whole Project “Reconstruction of the existing and construction of the second track of railway line Dugo Selo – Novska”, will enable an increase in speed and capacity, as well as safety of railway transport. It will also reduce travel times, improve accessibility of railway transport for persons with reduced mobility, and contribute to environmental protection.

As part of the works on the Ivanić-Grad – Kutina section, the following works are planned:

  • reconstruction of the single-track railway line and construction of the second track on the sections Ivanić-Grad – Popovača and Popovača – Kutina
  • reconstruction of the existing stations and stops on the line – implementation of reconstruction will result with 2 stations Popovača and Kutina and 6 stops Širinec, Ludina, Voloder, Repušnica, Deanovec and Moslavačka Gračenica
  • construction of new stop in Okešinec
  • reconstruction of the existing station in Novoselec into a freight forwarding
  • construction of 9 overpasses and 1 underpass
  • works on the electric power railway subsystem along with the construction of other facilities needed for the operation of the electric power railway subsystem, including the reconstruction of the existing Ludina electric traction substation
