Port of Rijeka multimodal platform development and interconnection to Adriatic Gate container terminal (POR2CORE-AGCT) – Reconstruction of the railway station Rijeka Brajdica and container terminal Brajdica
Port of Rijeka multimodal platform development and interconnection to Adriatic Gate container terminal (POR2CORE-AGCT) is a joint project of the Port of Rijeka Authority and HŽ Infrastruktura d.o.o., for which the Grant Agreement was signed in November 2015. The Agreement was signed between the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA), based on the authorizations provided by the European Commission, the Port of Rijeka Authority (Coordinator) and HŽ Infrastruktura (Beneficiary). The project includes the reconstruction of the railway station Rijeka Brajdica and construction of Brajdica intermodal container terminal.
The total value of the project is € 35.6 million, and the HŽI share amounts to € 26 million. The maximum co-financing rate from the CEF amounts to 85% of the total value of the project, i.e. € 30.26 million.
The reconstruction of the railway station and the construction of a new container terminal will have a considerable impact on the existing capacity of the station and will provide technical requirements for interoperability in accordance with Directive 2008/57/EC and Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI) for the trans-European conventional rail network.
The contract for works on the multimodal platform development project in the Port of Rijeka and connection to Adriatic Gate container terminal (POR2CORE-AGCT) in the amount of HRK 220,751,649.34, was signed by HŽ Infrastruktura and the Port of Rijeka Authority on April 19, 2018, with the consortium KOLEKTOR KOLING d.o.o. and EURO-ASFALT d.o.o.
The works on the Rijeka Brajdica project are fully completed. A lot has been done in two years: the superstructure and substructure on eight tracks have been reconstructed, station lighting has been replaced, the overhead contact line has been reconstructed, and a new facility was built for signalling, interlocking and telecommunications equipment, as well as a facility for a diesel unit. In the area of the Port of Rijeka Authority, four new concrete tracks were built, new crane tracks for cranes, a parking lot, drainage and a separator for rainwater. The existing Sušak tunnel was widened, in which a 400 m turnout track was installed, the interior of the tunnel was equipped with a fire-fighting system and a fire access was built for the tunnel. The overhead contact line was measured with a track recording car, the surrounding terrain on the construction site was arranged and the signalling and interlocking devices were tested. The state technical inspection was performed and the use permit for the part managed by HŽ Infrastruktura was obtained, and the Croatian Railway Safety Agency granted the Request for approval for the commissioning of infrastructure subsystems.
